Choosing Used Stair Lifts

If you have done any research into installing a stair lift in your home you would already have discovered the exorbitant cost involved. As they are out of the price range for most people the next logical step would be to look into the value of buying a used stair lift. When searching second hand dealers and auctions online you will find that there is the option of reconditioned or used. As confusing as this may seem, there is a distinct difference between the two.

If a used stair lift is offered for sale through a second hand dealer then they may state that it is reconditioned which means that they have given it a make over and changed out worn parts and they will usually give it a limited warranty, less than a new one obviously, but at least you will have it in a working condition at your place. You will have the peace of mind to know that a qualified mechanic has gone over it and checked it all out before you buy it. If you buy a used stair lift from online or privately then you will not have this guarantee, but if you do your research prior you can get a great deal on buying privately.

You may get the opportunity to see the stair lift working in the sellers home before you remove it or have it removed. So you will know that it works. If you buy one that has already been removed then you could get a stair lift mechanic to go over it for you, it will cost a little extra, but what cost peace of mind. Depending on how long a used stair lift has been in use will give an indication of possible wear. Some instances a chair stair lift may only be used for a short period, in which case it will more than likely be in better condition than one that has been in place for a longer time. It will also depend on the user obviously a petite old lady may cause less wear than a larger bulky male. They will very greatly, the key is research.
